Rural children usually receive more care, time, and emotional connection from their parents than their Bangkok counterparts. In terms of love, what either receive is probably not different. In terms of responsibility, rural children have to help their parents. This responsibility toward their parents from a young age builds slowly into care and connection, becoming responsibility in work and to society when they are adults. This is different from children in Bangkok, most of whom have a caretaker so they have no need to do anything for anyone and can focus only on their studies and themselves. After graduation, these children often consider furthering their studies. One will notice that sympathy for others, even for their own parents, is of lesser importance to them. Therefore, regardless of wealth or well-being, if we do not teach children to give, especially by giving them love in their young age, it will be difficult for them to feel love or sympathy for others.

I must say I don't very much agree with this article. The language is also quite stiff and the arguments illogical. Hence, the very odd English translation 1.
