Journals
Students are expected to keep a journal and write in it at least twice a week. You can think of it as a place where you can freely write, express your ideas, experiment with different kinds of writing, and discuss or comment on a question that you pose about the reading. Avoid simple entries that record your daily routine or questions that seem easy to answer, like factual questions.

Sample Essays
The blue folder of sample essays I showed you
in class is on the table just inside my office door to the right.
You can look through it for general information on the types of essays
we're focusing on in class as well as for several essays by professional
writers or from various publications that may help you in writing.
You may take the sheets you want out to photocopy but, please, take care
of them and return them to the folder as soon as you can.
