เพชรบูรณ์ – เกิดเหตุพายุฤดูร้อนพัดกระหน่ำและลูกเห็บขนาดใหญ่ตกลงมาในจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์เมื่อช่วง บ่ายวานนี้ ทำให้เกิดความเสียหายอย่างใหญ่หลวงโดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่อำเภอหล่มสัก มีบ้านเรือนและสิ่งปลูกสร้างได้รับความเสียหายจำนวนมาก

นาย พิบูลย์ หัตถกิจโกศล ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ กล่าวว่า พายุครั้งนี้กินบริเวณกว้างครอบคลุมอำเภอหล่มสัก อำเภอหล่มเก่า และอำเภอเมือง โดยบ้านเรือนราษฎรในอำเภอหล่มสักได้รับความเสียหายจำนวนกว่า 1,100 หลัง รถยนต์และรถจักรยานยนต์เสียหายหลายสิบคัน ต้นไม้หักโค่นทับสายไฟและเสาไฟฟ้า ทำให้หลายพื้นที่ไฟฟ้าดับนานหลายชั่วโมง อย่างไรก็ดียังไม่มีรายงานว่ามีผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บหรือเสียชีวิต ส่วนทรัพย์สินและมูลค่าความเสียหายอยู่ระหว่างการประเมิน ซึ่งทางจังหวัดจะได้ช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัยอย่างเร่งด่วนต่อไป

Phetchabun hit by 50-year storm, over 1,000 homes devastated

Phetchabun – A severe summer storm with large hailstones pounded Phetchabun Province yesterday afternoon, causing serious destruction especially in Lom Sak District, leaving homes and buildings damaged in its wake.

The province governor, Pibul Hattakitkosol, said the storm's effects were felt in Lom Sak, Lom Kao and Mueang districts, with Lom Sak hardest hit: more than 1,100 homes damaged, scores of cars and motorcycles ruined, and fallen trees knocking down power lines and utility poles, causing hours-long power outages across several areas. There has been no reports of deaths and injuries as yet, however, and property and damage costs are being assessed while the province is working to swiftly bring relief to survivors.

Deputy Mayor of Tan Diao Municipality, Sawek Soralump, 73, told reporters that this was Phetchabun's worst natural disaster, creating the most devastation in 50 years.

Phetchabun – A summer thunderstorm and large hailstones ravaged Phetchabun Province yesterday afternoon, wreaking widespread havoc especially in Lom Sak District, where a large number of houses and buildings were damaged.

Phetchabun governor Pibul Hattakitkosol said the storm swept through large areas including Lom Sak, Lom Kao, and Mueang Districts, damaging more than 1,100 homes in Lom Sak District as well as dozens of cars and motorcycles. Trees toppled onto power lines and electricity posts, resulting in blackouts in several areas for hours. However, there were no reports of casualties. The provincial authorities are estimating the cost of damage to property, and will speed up relief efforts to help the storm victims.

Mr. Sawek Sonlam, 73, deputy mayor of Tan Diao Municipality, told reporters that the storm was the worst natural disaster to wreak havoc in Phetchabun in 50 years.
