Course Description 

This is an integrated course with an emphasis on productive skills, that is, speaking and writing while reading and listening skills will be used as input to enhance communication in class. In this course the students will have an opportunity to practise their knowledge of English through various types of language activities both  inclass and on their own as a self- study.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course students should be able to
 
 
1. use the language for socializing.
2 use the language of self- introduction both at a personal and professional levels
3 express their opinions for or against
4 give an oral presentation both on topical  and academic issues
5. answer job interview questions
6.  write summaries of news articles and short articles
7 write a description of a person's roles and achievements
8 write an argumentative eassy on the topic assigned.
9 understand main ideas and supporting details
10. take notes from listening materials.

Unit 1 The language for socializing.
Unit 2 The language of self-introduction.
           - at a personal and professional levels
Unit 3 Techniques of Discussion.
Unit 4 Oral Presentation Techniques.
Unit 5 Summary Writing
Unit 6 The language of Description
           - a description of a celebrity's roles and achievements
           - a description of a company/ organization
Unit 7  Job Interview

>60%= unsatisfactory( U )
<60%= satisfactory( S )
