· Studied the kinetics and mechanism of cocrystal formation of carbamazepine with saccharin and nicotinamide by solid-state milling.

· Quantified the percent of cocrystal transformation by means of IR spectroscopy

Graduate Student Research Assistant, 9/97 – 6/03

· Designed and fabricated small angle light scattering (SALS) device to study crystallization kinetics of polymer nanocomposites and the orientation of clay by measurement of birefringence.

· Studied interlayer spacing of clay and morphological behavior of polymer by X-ray diffraction (XRD).

· Quantified domain size of crystallizing polymer by polarized light microscopy.

· Measured rheological properties of polymer clay nanocomposites by means of constant strain-rate rheometry (ARES)

· Studied crystallization and melting temperature of polymer nanocomposites by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

· Investigated the solid-state mechanical properties such as tensile modulus as a function of temperature by means of dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA).

· Used Braebender plasticorder to prepare polymer clay nanocomposites by melt mixing.

· Measured rheological properties in elongational flow by means of extensional rheometry (RME).

· Synthesized organophilic clay by ion-exchange method.

· Investigated the effect of temperature on crystal structure of polymer nanocomposites by high temperature wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS).
