The name MATIC stands for MAnufacturing Technology supported by advanced and integrated Information system through international Cooperation. The project is a future-oriented for five years which has been initiated since 1994 by the Center of Internation Cooperation for Computerization (CICC) under the mandate of Ministry of Internation Trade and Industry (MITI) of Japan. The countries participate in the Project are China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
The project consists of three working groups responsible for the corresponding specific area of R&D, i.e.,
