Abstract: In1985 Chulalongkorn Hospital used Selectron for treatment of carcinoma of the cervix by 40 mCi of Ceasium-137. The position of applicators in 115 patients were studied from radiographs. A wax phantom was used to simulate the mean of applicator position and measured the dose rate at point A, point B, rectum and bladder as defined by ICRU no 38. Dose at point A was 196.5 cGy/hr loading by Manchester system. Dose rate at point B was 34% of point A. The rectal dose was 65% of point A while the bladder received 78% of point A. The therapeutic ratio of the combined external radiation and brachytherapy showed the high ratio of low dose rate therapy of 0.73 when compared to 0.64 of high dose rate treatment.
