Continued heavy rains throughout the week have caused floods and landslides in several northern provinces, said the Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the Flood Warning Center for the northern region.

Many neighborhoods have been hit by floods and landslides in Mueang District, Uttaradit Province. A 2-kilometer stretch of highway 11, connecting Den Chai District and Uttaradit Province, is also under deep water.

Surachai Thatchakawin, Head of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Uttaradit Provincial Office, reported 100 mm. recorded rainfall and that flash floods and landslides continue to be a threat until at least tomorrow.

In Phichit Province, flood waters from the Phetchabun and Wang Thong mountain ranges have swept into Mueang District. Over 30 houses are under over 3 feet of water, and more than 100 acres of crop land are inundated.

In Lamphun Province, rebuilding is underway on nearly 1,000 feet of the flood-swept northern route railway between Khun Tan and Thachomphu stations, estimated to be completed in a few days.
