! Pope Francis at Chula: On November 22, 3:15–4:15 p.m., at Chulalongkorn University Auditorium, the Pope will be speaking on "Building Bridges for Peace and Understanding." The speech will be in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation in Thai and English. Faculty of Arts community members who wish to be considered for the limited seating, please fill out the request form and you will be notified if selected. The sign-up closes on October 23 at 4 p.m.
! Neilson Hays Library Events: Used books, magazines, CDs and DVDs at budget-friendly prices; talks, films, storytelling, play reading, and volunteer opportunities in November. The links below give you more details about each event.
  • Book Sale: November 2–3, 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. for bargain books of all genres. You are also welcome to donate books, magazines, and audio visual material prior to the sale.
  • Literature Festival: November 16–17, "featuring more than 30 renowned Thai and international writers from around the world, this is your chance to take part in insightful talks, panel discussions, and poetry readings." Most of the events are free and open to the public though some require registration. There is something for everyone, little ones and older people alike, on the program.
! Oedipus the King: The Faculty of Arts production of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex will be playing at the Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts from November 6 to 17. Tickets are on sale now.
