Ex-Soldier faces drug trafficking charge

Chiang Mai – Border Patrol Police arrested a former soldier on a drug trafficking charge Friday afternoon.

Capt. Arun Srichan, 56, was arrested in front of Chiang Mai University while in possession of 20 kilograms of raw opium and 500 grams of heroin. Srichan confessed that he was delivering the drugs to a dealer in Chiang Rai.

Police confiscated the white Toyota sedan belonging to the (charged) defendant and found evidence leading to two other suspects involved in this trafficking: Sampan Kaeowichien and Narong Kamwong. Both are prominent businessmen in Prae Province and have been called in for interrogation by the police.
